Training to be a TFL Technique Teacher

You may for any reason be contemplating a change in your life… or career… or simply looking for a new challenge. If you have an interest in exercise, movement and fitness, becoming a Fitness League teacher could be what you’re looking for.

Courses are lively and challenging. Your Teachers’ Certificate takes 22 training days where you will combine practical learning with theory, home study and teaching practice. Completion of the TFL Teachers’ Certificate enables you to:

  • confidently and successfully teach TFL Technique classes
  • qualify for further professional training at Diploma level
TFL training is recognised as an industry leader by Sport England and Sport Scotland.

TFL Technique training teaches you:

  • exercise routines which really work
  • how the body works
  • how to build successful classes

Training as a Fitness League exercise teacher could bring you new employment opportunities – full or part-time. You will learn new skills, increase your confidence and develop a new awareness of the real benefits to be enjoyed from safe, effective exercise.

The Fitness League offers part-time teacher training courses at a variety of venues throughout the UK. Courses will appeal to a range of people from enthusiastic exercise-class participants to already practising teachers looking to widen their career opportunities. The training is recognised as an industry leader by Sport England and Sport Scotland.

No restriction is placed on age, but places are offered to applicants who:

  • already have exercise, movement or dance experience, or
  • demonstrate a real desire to make a career in the field of exercise, and
  • show an awareness of the practicalities of developing a class and of being self-employed.

Courses are lively and combine practical activities, theory and teaching practice. The aim is to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to qualify as a Fitness League exercise teacher, and confidently and successfully teach Fitness League exercise classes.

 

 

 

Topics include:

  • Principles of the Bagot Stack system
  • Theory of how the body works (anatomy, physiology and kinesiology)
  • Combining exercises to form progressive routines
  • Teaching
  • Class planning/management
  • How to use music effectively
  • Organisation

The syllabus is covered through exercise and teaching sessions, demonstrations, lectures, and home study.

Classes are limited to 12 participants. This enables your Tutor to work closely with you throughout the course. All our Tutors are experienced not only in teacher training but also run their own very successful courses. Course are held across the UK at regular intervals. Successful qualification is based upon:

  • Continual assessments in anatomy, physiology and kinesiology
  • Presentation of course work as Examination portfolio
  • Final assessments in teaching and personal performance

Fitness League teachers work on a self-employed basis. Refresher Courses are held twice a year to update all teachers with new material.
