make friends

Get together and make friends

Convenient and non-competitive classes that bring the benefits of both exercising and socialising to your neighbourhood. Fitness League classes are found mostly in local community and school halls.

Forget the loneliness of the long-distance runner or the tedium of the treadmill and join one of our classes! Exercising together in class is a more sociable and fun way to keep fit.

Central Control

Central Control (core stability)

We'll help you improve your overall level of fitness with exercises for strength, stamina, flexiblility and good posture.  Good posture starts with control of the core stabilising muscles. We'll encourage you to keep that good posture as you move.  To put it another way, we aim for “posture in action”!

Feel Good

Feel Good

We all know that exercise gives you that “feel good” factor.  And with one of our classes you can also be sure of a warm, friendly atmosphere and a teacher who gives you personal attention.

News in brief

Seona Ross 1916 to 2011

A devotee of of movement all of her life, Seona travelled from Glasgow to London to train with the Women's League of Health and Beauty (now the Fitness League). At 65 she devoted her life to the development of EXTEND, promoting exercise for the over 60's and less able of all ages.
The Fitness League shaped her life and through it she shaped the lives of her class participants as well as newly qualified Fitness League and EXTEND teachers.
EXTEND has lost one of its most radiant and brightest lights, she was a great inspiration and an example to us all of the value of exercise and fun combined with 'no nonsense.
To use the words of Robbie Burns -- she is an "Auld acquaintance that will never be forgot and frequently brought to mind as well as a trusty friend to whom we will always raise a cup of kindness.
